Philosophy

The GNU.media methods are an extrapolation of the GNU ideals, set forth by the Free Software Foundation, into the realm of multimedia and mass communications. An intergal part of GNU.media is community. In fact, community is the reason for what we do, to include everyone regardless of race, sex, location, budget, operating system, education, or other factors.

Like the GNU GPL, GNU.media believes it is important to preserve freedoms and maintain a strong social element which spans worldwide. As such, GNU.media will advocate for social technologies and the adoption of licensing practices which adhere to the guidelines set forth by the GNU four freedoms.

It is our aim to promote Software Libre, open standards and codecs, accessible technology, publicly owned communications infrastructure, Copyleft, and a general principle of cooperation. The pages within this philosophy section will hopefully serve to more specifically define our goals and vision.
